Today in this article we will share exam stuff related to MDS. So here are the details.
Mds exam consists of two parts:
- Written
- Video projected
Written Exam:
Written Exam has 100 mcqs having 2 marks for each mcqs.
Video projected Exam:
VPCE has 25 slides and every slide has two marks. In slides they can give picture of any instrument and can ask for its function or any clinical condition and can ask questions regarding that particular condition.
How many Marks are necessary to clear MDS?
Candidate needs to secure at least 60 percent marks to clear jcat exam and atleast 50 percent in written exam.
MCQs Distributions for MDS:
In written exam 50 MCQs come from following Basic Subjects:
- Anatomy
- Phsiology
- Biochemistry
- Pharmacology
- Pathology
- Oral Biology,
- Dental Materials
50 MCQs come from following Clinical Subjects:
- Periodontology
- Operative Dentistry
- Oral Surgery
- Orthodontics
- Prosthodontics
Which Books should be used to clear MDS Exam?
For Basic Subjects following Books should be used:
- Rabia Ali,
- Coffeedent Course
- USMLE First Aid
- or NBDE First Aid
- Dentogist for dental portion
For clinical Subjects following Books should be used:
- Dentogist Clinical
- NBDE Part 2
But as time is short you should do only complete final notes for clinical subjects. Many questions from clinical subjects can be solved with previous knowledge.
As for Basic subjects there is no time for theory so Rabia Ali and Coffeedent for Dentistry are enough.

Every MCQ should be solved with details.
Last Tip:
Fcps people should concentrate on their part 1 because MDS Exam can be cleared with FCPS Part 1 exam Preparation and Previous clinical knowledge.
