Dr. Richard Usatine is a Professor of Family Medicine, Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at University of Texas Health San Antonio. In addition to his medical work and teaching, he is a medical and nature photographer, writer and speaker. His work in medical photography is represented in 9 of 10 of his published books and numerous other medical books. He received his MD from Columbia University and completed his residency at UCLA Medical Center. He is the lead author of 8 books and co-author on 2 additional books. He has published over 160 articles. He has won numerous teaching awards and loves teaching medical students to become compassionate doctors. Dr. Richard Usatine is the founding director of the University Health System Skin Clinic. Dr. Usatine is the founder of the Interactive Dermatology Atlas on the web and the editor of Photo Rounds in the Journal of Family Practice. He has been involved in Global Health through his work in Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Haiti and Ethiopia. Dr. Usatine loves his work as a doctor, teacher, writer and photographer.
