The objective is to enhance readers’ knowledge and skills while showcasing the latest cosmetic techniques and procedures.
The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry will strive to help readers become better clinicians, so they can offer their patients the best and most responsible treatment possible.
Times Are Tough, But So Are We!
The AACD was built on perseverance. Through the decades, we have consistently shown cosmetic dentistry to be an invaluable service to our patients that goes beyond a beautiful smile. Comprehensive care and responsible esthetics are at the heart of the AACD. Our community fuels our passion, enlightens us, and powers our tenacity to succeed. Although there have been many changes over the years, our commitment to innovation and growth has been unwavering.
As the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic remain overwhelming, the AACD’s contributions to our industry are more vital than ever. While awaiting a return to normalcy, our educational and networking opportunities continue to grow exponentially. We have recently added “Happy Hours” —fun, interactive events comprising a 30-minute networking session followed by an hour-long educational segment. Additionally, a new “Smile Portrait Competition” is open to all AACD dentists and laboratory technician members to showcase your best smile makeovers through dental art and portrait photography. I strongly encourage you to participate in these worthwhile and beneficial activities. Ideas like these can only succeed if you nourish them!

I would like to thank Contributing Editor Dr. Brian Gilbert for his outstanding job during the past 4+ years, diligently helping “Accreditation Essentials” authors to develop their articles and writing the “Examiners’ Commentary.” We will miss Dr. Gilbert in this role, but
we are delighted that he is joining jCD’s Editorial Review Board. In addition, we welcome AACD Accredited Member Dr. John Rowe as a Contributing Editor.
In reflecting on this past year, I am so honored to be a member of the AACD. I am proud to stand with you during the tough times, and I am here with you as we forge ahead and embrace the better times to come. We will continue, as we did in the Academy’s early days, to persevere and nurture our spirit. We are some of the best and toughest dental professionals in the world, and I look forward to celebrating all our accomplishments with you at AACD 2022 Orlando!
